What a transformation!
We're ready for the rainy season. Our immense thanks to all who contributed to transform the site to get it ready for winter. Thank you for all the generous donations for truckloads of hog fuel, gravel and new shelters. Thank you to every volunteer who worked so hard: picking up supplies, carrying pallets and mats, hammering and nailing, and erecting shelters. It was a huge effort by very special people.
We were all happy to see Daisy again, Lisa's new tractor, which she deftly drove to spread the hog fuel. The herd will much cozier in the winter rain, plus it will be so much easier for volunteers to feed. Meet our Littlest Littles
Meet Reba and Laney, our adorable and bonded paint-minis who wander the farm rarely far apart. Reba (right in photos), is 31-years-old, very chill, and loves hanging out munching hay. Laney, age 6, prances up looking for attention or treats. Laney can be very protective of Reba and will show some serious attitude if any horse bothers her.
These little gals were abandoned on a farm when it was sold and the new owners surrendered them to the rescue. Both minis had foundered, but there’s been great improvement with good farrier care. Both are permanent residents; Reba due to her age and a recent diagnosis of Cushings, while Laney isn’t 100% sound on her hind end. But both are a joy and it’s so sweet to watch their close bond. Dear George, still waiting
Our tall, dark, and handsome pasture prince is still looking for a special home. George is a 10-year-old, 16 hands high Appendix gelding with a personality as big as his heart. Rescued from the Kamloops auction at age three, George was adopted quickly and spent seven years with a family before life took a turn and he came back to us more than a year ago. George is not a riding horse, but rather a pasture puff with a working brain and a love for connection. He needs a home that will enjoy playing games, offering enrichment, and letting him be the quirky character he is. If you’ve got room in your heart for a lovable pasture companion with charm, smarts, and just a sprinkle of drama, George is waiting. Shopping with Purpose
